2015 International Bowl roundup: All the links you need to know

By Joe Frollo | Posted 2/9/2015

The 2015 International Bowl is in the books with Canada earning the International Bowl Cup after winning three of five games Jan. 30 to Feb. 7 in Arlington, Texas. Canada captured the Under-15, Under-16 and Under-18 levels, while the United States was victorious at Under-17 and Under-19.

The event was a fun and exciting time as teams practiced for a week before playing jamborees and games at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, as well as University of Texas-Arlington’s Maverick Stadium. More than 40 of the top high school seniors also signed their national letters of intent during a special breakfast at AT&T Stadium.

Times, dates and locations are not yet set for the 2016 International Bowl, but tryouts are under way. Attend one of USA Football’s 24 Regional Development Camps to begin your journey to the U.S. National Team. Click here to learn more.

Quotes:

Prentice McKinney, USA defensive back and MVP, Dallas, Texas.

“This whole week was really fun. It was exciting. Now, I’m ready for college. It’s what I’ve been waiting for four years.”

“I learned a lot this week. I improved my techniques and competed against really good players. I’ve also gotten to know guys and it’s been fun going against guys from other states. Great experience.”

Tom Westerberg, USA head coach, Allen, Texas.

“I’ve coached in all-star games, but this is the best of the best in the country playing for the United States. To get these guys to come together in seven short practices is a testament to the players and the coaches.”

“All the players, all the coaches were awesome all week, and this put a real nice cap on it. These are character kids who came out and played the best they could.”

“This coaching staff is second to none. They worked their tails off to get their groups ready, and it showed. I had a blast, and I learned a lot from a lot of smart coaches this week.”

Tyler Petite, USA tight end, Moraga, Calif.

“It was so much fun to go out there today and show what we could do. You don’t know what to expect in this game because there’s no film, no scouting reports. You just prepare yourself as best you can and be ready.”

“We could see they were big, so we had to play our hearts out and play fast. We were physical. I was just happy that I could contribute as I did.”

“This week was great for me because I got to play as a slot receiver, which will help in college. I got a lot better at getting off the ball and into routes. I love all the guys who were here. This was a tight bunch, and the coaches brought out the best in us. I got to know some guys who were great athletes and better people. I’m proud to have been part of this.”

Riley Neal, USA quarterback, Yorktown, Ind.

“I felt good in the offense even though none of us had played in a long time. It was fun to just get out and play.”

“I tried my best and the team tried its best, but it wasn’t our game. We’re better than what we played today.”

Quotes:

Lindell Stone, USA quarterback and MVP, Dallas, Texas

“We’re from all different places across the country, but we really came together today and made a good team. The MVP trophy was just a consolation prize and wasn’t that important to me. The important thing was that we got the win.”

Gary Swenson, USA Under-17 head coach, West Des Moines, Iowa

“They listened, they paid attention, they were coachable, and they were just fun.”

“I agreed to do this because every project I’ve done with USA Football has been awesome. They run a first class operation. To get to play in this facility (AT&T Cowboys Stadium), this is a once in a lifetime shot for all of us. There was no downside to the whole week.”
