Situational football and how to practice for different scenarios

Situational football was the topic of last night’s #txhsfbchat, as coaches weighed in on how different game scripts influenced play calling and strategy.

The two-minute offense was also a discussion point. Coaches stressed the importance of getting meaningful yards on first down and minimizing personnel adjustments while allowing players to adjust the formation according to the spot of the ball, whether on a hash mark or in the middle of the field.

Coaches also weighed in on whether to use a scout team defense or their own first-team unit when practicing goal-line plays.
