Sam Gordon is just 13 years old, but she’s already one of the most famous female football players in the world.

The Utah native, who has dominated her local tackle football league, rose to internet stardom when her highlight video hit YouTube in 2012. Today, she’s back in the spotlight as the subject of a Bleacher Report video hailing her a pioneer of women’s sports.

"My hope is that if more parents, coaches and players watch me play, then more girls would want to play football,” Gordon said in the video.

Gordon has been the most recognizable girl playing football, something that is much more common now than it was five or 10 years ago.

Samantha Rapoport, Director of Football Development at the NFL, said that Gordon has played an instrumental role in that trend.

"She's the perfect representation for the girls football movement, and she's a great person to help us get this start," Rapoport said in the video.
