The Dallas Cowboys teamed up with several area schools to provide a first-class experience deep in the heart of Texas.

High school football fields across the nation usually consist of a nice set of bleachers for family and friends to sit and enjoy the game. However, everything is bigger in Texas, including the high school football stadiums.

The Ford Center stadium, located in Frisco (Texas), opened this past Saturday and played host to a quadruple header of local high school football. The modern facility cost $1.5 Billion to construct and boasts a seating capacity of 12,000 as well as an attached 16-story luxury hotel.

The stadium is also outfitted with a state-of-the-art locker room facility that was custom-made by Nike. It also features the largest exterior video screen in high school sports, which measures a whopping 2,270 square feet.

The opportunity for high school athletes to play on a field shared with the area’s beloved Dallas Cowboys is the result of a unique, ground-breaking partnership between an NFL team and a high school district, the Frisco Independent School District, and has been three years in the making. It will allow Frisco schools and the Cowboys to share the facility.

The priority on both sides of the agreement? The local students.

"This partnership hinges on protecting and promoting the very best of what the high school experience can be," said Jeremy Lyon, Frisco ISD superintendent of schools. "This is about kids."

The debut of the stadium was a memorable one for the high school teams involved, even the visiting teams.

“This was something they (the players) can remember for the rest of their lives,” said Lone Star High School head coach Jeff Rayburn.
