The modern incarnation of football, especially at the professional level, celebrates edge rushers who can disrupt an offense.

The turning point in last year’s Super Bowl was Von Miller’s edge rush against the Panther’s right tackle Mike Remmers.

One of the most difficult tasks for any lineman is attempting to block an edge rusher who also has the power to bull rush, like Miller. This is why effective edge rushers are celebrated in the NFL, they possess the ability to create game-changing havoc in an offense’s backfield as Miller did in the Super Bowl.

In the below video, former NFL offensive lineman Emmanuel "CJ" Davis breaks down the keys for offensive linemen to defend against edge rushers. The video was shot and provided by LeCharles Bentley’s OLine Performance
