Football is the consummate team sport. Whether at the youth or professional level, the game requires players to communicate, support one another and place the good of the team as paramount.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo recently modeled the values that the game of football seeks to instill with his impressive demonstration of teamwork. The NFL veteran voiced his support of rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, who became the team’s starting quarterback when Romo went down due to injury.
"He's earned the right to be our quarterback," Romo said. "As hard as that is for me to say, he's earned that right. He's guided our team to an 8-1 record and that's hard to do."
For Romo, who had been the team’s regular starting quarterback since 2006, to gracefully cede the reins of the team’s offense to a first-year player demonstrates a tremendous attitude of selflessness that other football players at all levels should consider emulating:
We applaud the leadership, character and team-first values of @tonyromo.
