The rub:

Angus Reid didn’t necessarily expect his 12-minute TEDx WestVancouverED talk to resonate the way it did – striking a viral fire within the international football community and making others take notice. The retired 13-year veteran center and two-time CFL Grey Cup champion merely wanted to go in and share his passion for a sport that taught him how to be a well-rounded individual.

“I thought, you know what, I’m going to be speaking to a lot of educators here and I’m going to bring up the point of why we need [football] now more than ever,” Reid said. “I’m going to stand up for my sport and I’m going to bring, hopefully, a point of view that is going to be maybe not something that [the audience] can’t refuse but something that is really going to make them question their notion of what they thought football was.”

If speaking to a group of educators and school administrators in Canada was an interesting challenge, Reid is looking forward to a “home game” in front of an audience that embraces the game and continues searching for ways to make it a better experience for everyone involved.

In Orlando, Reid plans to deliver a reminder of the absolute importance of what coaches are doing beyond just winning games and championships; they’re molding young athletes.

“A thank you, a reminder and a re-energizer of how much we need this in life. I’ll touch on why I think it is the most important sport for a high school to have,” Reid said.

If Reid can accomplish this in 12 minutes...

…just imagine the ways he will inspire the coaching landscape during his 45-minute presentation at USA Football 2017 National Conference at Pro Bowl.
