The rub:

Any time people debate the best states for high school football, the first two answers are usually Texas and Florida.

Sure, California, Georgia, Ohio and others are in the conversation, but the Lone Star State and the Sunshine State are renowned for their pigskin.

The high school football landscape in both states is hyper-competitive, yet Todd Dodge and Robert Weiner have managed to find consistent success year after year.

Both Dodge and Weiner have four state titles to their name, despite playing in the largest classifications in their state. Both are tactical masterminds, but also experts at all of the duties that are required of football coaches away from the field.

Dodge will be teaming with AFCA executive director Todd Berry, Arkansas compliance officer Jon Fagg and NCAA associate director Glenn Terry for a panel on recruiting.

It’s a topic that Dodge is uniquely qualified to discuss. He has produced numerous Division I players while coaching in high school, but also knows the recruiting process from the other side. Dodge was the head coach at North Texas from 2007-2010.

Weiner will introduce USA Football’s Practice Smart program, a course that USA Football will be offering online in 2017. Practice Smart utilizes modified drills to increase health and safety will instilling proper fundamentals.

There will be numerous opportunities for high school football coaches to learn some Xs and Os at the 2017 USA Football National Conference. Coaches will have the opportunity to learn how some of the most successful coaches in the country operate different aspects of their respective programs, including Dodge and Weiner.
