A combination of a brilliant defensive effort in the second-half and the dynamic duo of A.J. Brown and Joshua Raskin powered a U.S. Under-17 Select Team 42-15 win over Team Saskatchewan at the International Bowl VIII in Arlington, Texas.
Brown rushed 15 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns, including a 59-yard dash. Raskin caught seven passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns, including a 56-yard touchdown grab with less than 4 minutes to play.
“Tonight was special not only for the win but just playing with these guys,” said Raskin after receiving MVP honors. “This was a team effort from the opening kick and I’m proud to be part of it.”
Team Saskatchewan scored first midway through the first quarter with a 39-yard pass from Matthew Wilson to Dominique Dheilly.
But the U.S. Under-17 team took charge of the game after Stephen Woit threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Adam LaBrash midway through the second quarter.
