The 2017 USA Football Regional Development Camps continue to take place around the country.
Last weekend, San Antonio, Texas and Mission Viejo, Calif. played host to Regional Development Camps—the first step in the journey to earning a spot on the U.S. National Team.
USA Football, during its 2017 Regional Development Camp schedule, will highlight groups of both middle school and high school student-athletes from each location a camp occurs. This is meant to provide an inside look at the types of players and people learning, competing and getting better across the country.
Here's a rundown on all the action from Mission Viejo and San Antonio:
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Coaches from the following Universities served as U.S. National Team training instructors:
Gold Ball winner (middle school)
Chris Snyder Jr., WR, 2023, Chula Vista, Calif.
Despite being only a sixth-grade student-athlete, Chris Snyder, Jr. left the Southern California Regional Development with the Gold Ball and an invitation to the National Development Games. In doing so, he becomes the first sixth-grader ever to claim the award. On both Saturday and Sunday, Snyder Jr. impressed coaches and scouts with his advanced skill set for being such a young player. On top of his on-field play, coaches marveled at is hard-working attitude and ability to absorb coaching. The Farb Middle School product certainly left his mark.
Gold Ball winner (high school)
Cole Aubrey, DL, 2019, JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.)
Aubrey took home the Gold Ball in the high school ranks. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end blends size and athleticism in a seamless fashion. He recorded 10 sacks as a sophomore playing in arguably the country’s most challenging league. Look for big things from Aubrey this summer at the National Development Games and this fall at JSerra Catholic.

SAN ANTONIO
Coaches from the following Universities served as U.S. National Team training instructors:
Gold Ball winner (middle school)
Logan Tanner, TE, 2022, Spring, Texas
With history being made throughout the country at USA Football Regional Development Camps, Logan Tanner became the first-ever tight end to bring home the coveted Gold Ball. The sure-handed Tanner made the trip to the University of Incarnate Word from Spring, Texas and made the most out of his journey. At 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds, Tanner was dominant all camp long and did everything you could ask for from a pass-catching tight end. His routes and hands echoed a receiver’s, while his release and ability to get up field quickly looked like a running back.
Gold Ball winner (high school)
Logan Parr, OL, 2020, O’Connor ( Holote , Texas)
As a ninth grader, Parr made his mark on the varsity level for O’Connor, logging significant minutes at right guard as only a freshman. His momentum carried into the offseason and into the San Antonio Regional Development Camp, where he impressed scouts enough to earn the high school gold ball—netting him an instant invitation to the National Development Games, the next step in the journey toward earning a spot on the U.S. National Team.
