Values Captain Devin Hart finds growth in football

Values Captain Devin Hart understands football is more than just a sport.

Rather, he sees the game as a place to learn life lessons and to grow as a leader.

“I'm able to learn from the people and coaches around me and in turn, I have a chance to influence them myself,” Hart said.

Hart was proud and honored to be selected by these coaches and peers as a USA Football Values Captain during his time at the National Team Development Games over the summer.

The USA Football Values Captains program highlights players who exemplify the positive qualities that football teaches and fosters.

This accolade for the Class of 2018 outside linebacker was neither one he strived for or expected.

“It wasn't something I was trying to do,” Hart said. “I just wanted to be a positive influence on my teammates.”

The lessons Hart has learned and the growth he has experienced have led him to understand that in order to continue to develop, he must continue to push himself.

"To get where you've never been before, you must do what you've never done before," Hart said.

For those looking to find success in football, Hart believes you need to combine your talent with other necessary qualities.

“Hard work, dedication and leadership will take you a lot further than talent alone will,” he said.
