For Isaiah Butler, football is more than a game. The sport has taught him valuable lessons and helped shape the person that he is today.

“I feel it is a way to show your true colors as in what you value and how hard you work for others," Butler said. "It gives you world experience, makes you tough, gets you used to being on time, and has personally made me a better student and man because of those things."

When Butler was designated as the Values Captain by his team, he was proud to wear red, white and blue in front of the crowd.

“It felt amazing standing in front of the crowds and my teammates,” said the 6-foot-4 Kennedale (Texas) offensive lineman, “to be a figure of representation of my team, the U.S. National Team and just my country.”

The USA Football Values Captains program celebrates athletes who exhibit the positive attributes that football teaches.

Of the many values that Butler upholds, always giving 100 percent is the one that is the most important to him.

“Try your hardest while you can because you never know when you'll lose the ability to,” Butler said.

Besides always giving his best, Butler believes in always following your dreams. He advises young players to do the same.

“Play your hardest and if you love it, don't let people stop you,” he said.
