When you put in countless hours of hard work to achieve a goal, you take pride in that effort.

For Eric DeMayo, remaining dedicated to developing as a football player is a tremendous source of pride.

The class of 2018 running back is seeing that commitment pay off.

DeMayo was selected as a USA Football Values Captain by his coaches and teammates for his display of leadership during the USA Football Development Games, an honor that he takes no credit for.

“It means that the leadership values I've been thought by my parents, teachers, and coaches growing up have influenced others through the sport of football and I owe it all to them."

The USA Football Values Captain program highlights players who exemplify the positive qualities that football teaches and fosters.

One of the major qualities that DeMayo hopes to bring out in others is respect. He believes that if you treat others the way you would want to be treated, the world will be a much better place.

He also does not see all of the energy he puts into football as paying off only on the field. It positively affects every facet of his life.

“It is more than just a game,” DeMayo said. “The game will develop your character and make you a better leader and a better person.”
