When it comes to producing Division I football recruits, no state can hang with Florida.

According to research from the NCAA, the Sunshine State produces a greater percentage of Division I recruits, based on total football participants, than any other state, with 9.9 percent of high school football players blossoming into Division I recruits.

The data comes from a study examining the number of Division I recruits from 2013 – 2016, compared against NFHS participation statistics for each state.

After the numbers were crunched, Florida came out on top.

Given the caliber of football played across the state, the results are hardly surprising. In all pockets of the state, from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties up toward the Tampa and Orlando areas, to Jacksonville and across the panhandle, there is no shortage of gifted football players.

Georgia and Louisiana finished second and third in the study, with 8.6 percent and 8.1 percent of high school football players becoming Division I recruits, respectively.
