Kanye West to design high school football uniforms?

Football and fashion have long shared a special bond, as athletes want to “look good, feel good and play good” when they take the field. The trends that have taken root in the NFL and college game often manifest themselves soon after in the high school ranks.

However, if Kanye West has his way, the high school football scene could become the sport’s fashion trendsetter.

According to a report from TMZ, West is aiming to reach an agreement with Calabasas High School (Calif.) to design the school’s athletic uniforms.

The report suggests West could be looking to do a complete re-brand for the school, including new colors and mascot, as well as renovations to the school’s facilities.

The city of Calabasas is reportedly home to the family of West’s wife, Kim Kardashian.

Calabasas has enjoyed a football renaissance in recent years since the hire of former Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen as head coach. The team finished 14-1 and 14-2 over the last two seasons, respectively.

Clausen has been credited with changing the program's culture; the team finished 0-10 in 2013, the season before his hire.

Last year, Calabasas featured Keyshawn Johnson Jr., now a receiver at Nebraska, and Darnay Holmes, one of the country’s most heavily recruited cornerbacks, now at UCLA.

Both could be impact players on Saturdays this fall, but they might miss out on the opportunity to wear some Kanye-inspired threads.
