‘Peace Bowl’ teaches youth football players life lessons

Football isn't just about teaching athletes how to throw the ball, the proper way to tackle or how to run a screen pass. It teaches players life lessons.

The Peace Bowl, a two-day event that was held at the University of Cincinnati last weekend helped young athletes learn how to treat one another with respect on and off the field.

Youth football teams from three states attended this year's Peace Bowl.

Founder of the Peace Bowl, Rev. Peterson Mingo, wants to send a message to youth players. Rev. Mingo wants to see athletes come together instead of being divided because they are from different parts of the community.

Organizers of the event told local news WKRC the Peace Bowl is now more important than ever with all of the tension in the community.

Parents, coaches, and athletes are able to come together on the gridiron for their love of the game, however, events such as the Peace Bowl allow players to take the respect they have for another off the field and into their communities.
