Harvey forces Texas high school football cancellations

Tropical Storm Harvey has dumped 11 trillion gallons of water in the Houston metro area.

Harvey’s floodwaters have forced many Texas high school football game cancellations and school closures.  

Week 1 of Texas football is set to kick off Friday night, but officials have elected to cancel several games. Harvey made landfall Friday night at 10 p.m. as a Category 4 hurricane.

Harvey, which weakened to a tropical storm Saturday afternoon, continues to cause devastating flooding in the southeast region of the state.

As Harvey lingers over the state for the next couple of days, conditions are expected to worsen, which could lead to even more flooding.

However, Harvey isn't only affecting the football schedule in Texas, North Carolina is also seeing the effects. 

The Charlotte Observer  announced that with rain heading for the area this weekend, they have moved some games have been moved up to Wednesday and Thursday.
