As NFL fantasy football team owners across America piece together their teams, they should keep in mind a few former U.S. National Team players for their squads.
Here’s a quick look at four National Team alumni who could put your fantasy team over the top this season:
Gurley, a 2012 National Team alum, ranks ninth among all NFL running backs, according to nfl.com. Gurley’s projected to score 176 fantasy points this season after tallying 155.2 points in 2016, and 99.9 percent of leagues have a team with Gurley on their roster.

2. Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback
Another 2012 National Team alum, Winston ranks ninth among available quarterbacks after throwing for over 4,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons. Nfl.com fantasy editor Marcus Grant lists Winston as “one late-round fantasy quarterback to rule them all.” NFL.com projects he’ll score 216 fantasy points this season, and 98.3 percent of leagues have a team with Winston.
3. Ty Montgomery, Green Bay Packers running back
Montgomery helped the 2011 National Team win the International Bowl, and he hopes to help the Packers win a Super Bowl this year. He’s ranked 20th among running backs by nfl.com, which projects him to score 165 fantasy points. Among fantasy leagues, 99.2 percent list him on a roster.

4. Corey Coleman, Cleveland Browns wide receiver
Coleman also played on the 2012 National Team, and ranks 51st among all NFL receivers, with a projected season point total of 88. Well over half (64.4 percent) of fantasy leagues have a team with Coleman on its roster, but as the Browns’ No. 1 receiver, his production could go even higher if rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer exceeds expectations.
Don't sleep on a couple of other former National Team standouts, either. Washington Redskins rookie running back Samaje Perine, who played on the 2014 National Team, could rack up some fantasy points. In fact, 80.4 percent of nfl.com fantasy leagues have a team with him on the roster. Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess, another 2012 National Team alum, caught 23 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns last season.
