Ben Davis, ranked No. 1 in Indiana’s biggest class and No. 16 in this week’s USA Today Super 25, improved to 5-0 with a 45-16 victory over fourth-ranked Warren Central. Indiana recruit Reese Taylor had five touchdowns and Ball State commit Johnny Adams added 214 rushing yards for the Giants, as coach Mike Kirschner notched his 100th career win.

A story by Paul Shepherd of the Indy Star says the bitter rivals gathered at midfield afterward, as Kirschner discussed unity in the wake of tragedy – after Warren defensive back and Southern Illinois commit Dijon Anderson died in May from injuries sustained in a shooting, and Ben Davis senior DB Rondell Allen was shot but survived a drive-by in July.

Arizona player scores after last cancer treatment

While Rio Rico running back Ricky Perez had 15 TDs last season, his score in Friday’s win over Rincon topped them all.

Diagnosed with testicular cancer in May, two more tumors were later discovered, yet Perez was determined to play. Tim Whelan of USA Today High School Sports says that after three rounds of chemotherapy, the final one just last week, Perez returned Friday night and scored a TD in his team’s 49-14 win.
