This Tuesday PM Blitz, brought to you by Physio Control, starts in with the Football Championship Subdivision, where a year after ending North Dakota State's five-year lock on the title, James Madison will have to outlast the Bison if it's going to claim its second in a row.
The teams secured their spots in the Division I Football Championship at noon Jan. 6 in Frisco, Texas, with lopsided semifinal victories on Saturday.
With a 30-point third quarter, unanimous No. 1 JMU (14-0) turned an 11-point lead into a rout in its 51-16 win over No. 6 South Dakota State, thanks in part to another big performance from standout running back and Georgia Tech transfer Marcus Marshall.

Quarterback Bryan Schor went 18-of-25 for 203 yards and two touchdowns to Riley Stapleton, while the defense yielded just six points in the second half with the game far out of reach.
After jumping out to a 41-3 halftime lead in a 55-13 victory over No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 4 North Dakota State's trip to Frisco was never in doubt. The Bison (13-1) posted some huge numbers, including a combined 377 rushing yards and three scores from Seth Wilson and Bruce Anderson.

Tennessee high school football team surprises coach with new car

Enjoli Francis and Paulina Tam of ABC News report the Tennessee (Bristol) High School football team presented longtime assistant coach Narcellus "Coach Squeaky" Black with a brand new vehicle.
After Black's car was vandalized in October, he drove it with a plastic cover over the rear window. Then, Coach Mike Mays came up with the idea to replace Black's car. Students, players, parents and the community - including families of former players - chipped in, pledging donations and spreading word.
"He taught me a lot," said Colby Fields, a former student and baseball player. "That's why we love him. He deserves this more than anybody."
Fields' father, Jeff, owner of a local car dealership, heard about the plan and reduced the price of a car. Donations paid for the vehicle, a year's worth of insurance and a money wreath with $200 for gas and the holidays.

Chris Manderioli of Tap into Madison reports the Morris County Youth Football League donated $22,500 to local families in need during its annual banquet in Denville, New Jersey.
Longtime coach and league secretary Jerry Davis founded MCYFL Charities, which has helped 34 families from 14 of the 19 league-member programs since its inception in 2009. Five families who encountered a sudden and unexpected hardship this year received donated funds to help them cope.
"It is nice to win all these trophies over here, but hopefully we all remember that what is most important, are the words of our charity motto, 'People Helping People,'" Davis said.
The league runs fundraising events at games throughout the season and sponsors a month-long "Gold Out" in September to fight pediatric cancer.

"The Pro Football Hall of Fame is thrilled to premiere this great documentary before it is shared with football fans across the country," Hall of Fame Chief Operating Officer and Executive Producer George Veras said. "This film perfectly aligns with our mission to honor the heroes of the game, preserve its history, promote its values and celebrate excellence everywhere."
