The United States is looking to continue its dominance from day one, with the men squaring off first and the women immediately after here in Panama at the IFAF World Championships. Both teams faced mid-seeded opponents as heavy favorites, and proved why they deserved to be so after another set of commanding victories.
Men’s Game 3 Final Score vs Japan: United States 45, Japan 12
As per the theme from yesterday’s games, the United States jumped out to an early 20-0 lead against an outmatched opponent, scoring on their first three possessions with touchdown receptions by Terrance Fox, Jeff Reimel and Corey Webb. Webb also got in on the action on defense with a big interception near the goal line.
Japan struck back after that on a good drive ending in a touchdown and missed extra point, to bring the game to 20-6 midway through the first half.
After a couple unsuccessful drives by both teams, the United States closed the first half with a last minute touchdown pass to Carlos Jaime, to go up 27-6 heading into the break touchdowns.
The second half was much of the same, with the U.S. opening with big plays to Carlos Jaime for his second consecutive touchdown reception and Frankie Solomon on a gorgeous catch and throw deep post route to go up 39-6. Japan would squeeze in another touchdown and Solomon would as well for the U.S. to close out the game 45-12 in an easy victory for the men.
The men play their second game here at 1 p.m. CST against Denmark, so stay tuned for more updates as we follow the action live!

Women’s Game 3 Final Score vs Denmark: United States 45, Japan 12
The woman squared off in their lone game of the day against a very solid Denmark team, and again started off a bit slow before exploding in the second half to a landslide victory.
Denmark opened the game with a perfect first series, driving down the field hitting a wide-open post route for a touchdown, going up 7-0. The United States quickly rebounded though, hitting three consecutive touchdowns to Liz Sowers, Michelle Roque and Rebecca Crabb, going up 22-7.
The next three scores went back and forth with Denmark scoring, followed by another touchdown by Crabb, and another response by Denmark to finish the first half at a tight 29-19 score.
However, the second half was all United States. Rebecca Crabb had another pair of touchdown receptions, giving the sure-handed receiver nine in three games, and will surely be the target defenses will watch moving forward. Whisonant, Overstreet and Comice all contributed with touchdown receptions as well, giving quarterback Vanita Krouch eight touchdown passes in the game, keeping her interception-free streak alive.
Defensively, the second half was a near-perfect performance by the women, demonstrating their growing chemistry is getting stronger with three interceptions, two by Whisonant and an interception return for a touchdown by Gearhart in a much needed performance to boost their confidence. If the defense can continue to get stronger, this team will be very difficult to knock out as the offense is really starting to click and put up points in a hurry.
The women take the field for their fourth and final pool play game tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. against a skilled Mexico team that will surely be their toughest challenge so far.
