National Conference: Why I Attend – PART VI
Head football coach, Rob Pomazak, spends every offseason attending conferences to better the football program at St. Charles High School. Last year, he attended USA Football’s National Conference and refers to the event as nothing less than First Class.
He describes his overall experience as a great one – from travel accommodations to the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers that have won state championships. From these experiences, Coach Pomazak recommends a few tips when attending the USA Football National Conference:
- Take part in casual conversation with other coaches and staff in between and after speaking sessions.
- Bring your staff with you so they can have the chance to connect with other coaching staffs from all over the country as well.
- Be prepared to soak in a plethora of football knowledge that will be at your disposal.
Pomazak says his best memories from National Conference occurred during the shuttle bus rides when he had the ability to strike up meaningful conversation with coaches whom he keeps in touch with to this day. He also adds that he was blown away by the gigantic banquet room and that the food was excellent!
“Everybody has their own story to success through coaching, and to be able to relate on a personal level to the other coaches and attendees is very assuring,” said Pomazak, “Any coach or staff members looking to find professional growth in their respected fields should absolutely attend USA Football’s National Conference.”
