East LA Bulldogs Youth Football and Cheer located in Los Angeles, Calif. have earned Gold Level status through USA Football’s League Excellence Program for the 2022 season.

USA Football’s League Excellence Program is a way for youth football organizations to earn recognition for a commitment to raise operational standards and provide a great environment for athletes and their families.

The East LA Bulldogs earned Silver Level status through the League Excellence Program in 2021.

When asked about the value of USA Football’s coach certification, East LA Bulldogs President Joaquin Bustamante Jr. said, “It gives our coaches great information that is needed in training programs.”

Bustamante has worked with the Bulldogs for the past decade. During that time, his organization has taken advantage of opportunities offered by USA Football. Besides earning recognition through the League Excellence Program, the Bulldogs previously received grants from USA Football that helped them acquire new helmets.

Bustamante and his dedicated team of volunteers work hard to make sure everyone ages five through 14 have the chance to participate, regardless of financial situation. They also place an emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of football and important life lessons over winning games.

“Win or lose, the real win comes down to the effort you gave and if you learned and grasped what was taught to you,” Bustamante said. “If you work hard enough, you can chase everything you want in life!”

The East LA Bulldogs Youth Football and Cheer program has three cheer divisions and six football divisions, including a flag program to prepare athletes for tackle.

The Bulldogs will hold their season-closing football and cheer banquet on Jan. 7 to celebrate their young athletes and another successful season.
