The Wesley Chapel Football Tackle and Cheer program located in Wesley Chapel, Fla. has earned Gold Level status through USA Football’s League Excellence Program for the 2023 season.
USA Football’s League Excellence Program is a way for youth football organizations to earn recognition for their commitment to raise operational standards and provide a great environment for athletes and their families.
The Wesley Chapel Football Tackle and Cheer program has seen many benefits from the League Excellence Program and USA Football’s grants program.
“The best aspects are the accountability measures in place at each level that encourage organizations to improve their operational standards so that they can provide a safe environment for participating youths,” said Vice President Tim Leggett. “We have received several different grants from USA Football which have allowed us to improve our equipment offerings so that we can better serve, coach and develop our youth.”
The Wesley Chapel Football Tackle and Cheer program earned Silver Level status in 2022 and was rewarded in 2023 for continuing to pursue excellence and the highest standards in youth football. The program values treating their athletes as one big family and caring for them in the same way.
“We are a developmental football league that works with athletes of all skill sets, from beginner to advanced,” said Leggett. “We believe in a family style atmosphere that helps to better foster an environment where children feel encouraged to improve their skills and grow their knowledge of the game. We pride ourselves on making sure our youths understand what it means to be a part of a community.”
Leggett has been a part of the Wesley Chapel Football Tackle and Cheer program for seven years now. There have been both celebrations and struggles throughout that time. No matter the situation, the community built around the program comes together.
“One of the most inspirational moments I have witnessed during my time with the organization is when our director at the time was battling cancer,” Leggett recalled. “To see how the entire organization from top to bottom rallied around him and his family was a real testament to what we are as a community - “Bulls Nation.”’
With every season comes new challenges, but the Wesley Chapel coaches and staff have a strong group surrounding them to keep them at their best.
“The youth in our program and the communities that we serve are the inspiration that motivate us to be the very best in class as a youth football program,” Leggett said. “Most of the coaches within our organization at some point benefited from being involved in youth sports and have a clear understanding of the positive impacts that it can have on people’s lives.”
USA Football congratulates the Wesley Chapel Football Tackle and Cheer program on a successful season and thanks them for serving as a model program worthy of Gold Level status.
