Spring Creek Junior Football League located in Spring Creek, Nev. has earned Gold Level status through USA Football’s League Excellence Program for the 2023 season.
USA Football’s League Excellence Program is a way for youth football organizations to earn recognition for their commitment to raising operational standards and providing great environments for athletes and their families.
The Spring Creek Junior Football League offers football game-types for young athletes from five up to 14 years old. Their flag football program is for five-, six- and seven-year-olds and is followed by rookie tackle, which is for eight and nine-year-olds. The program’s football game-types include flag, tackle and 7-on-7 limited contact.
“We are a small community that takes pride in our athletics programs teaching our young athletes responsibility, sportsmanship and camaraderie,” said Spring Creek Junior Football League President David Wood. “We offer tackle and flag during the fall and 7-on-7 in the spring into summertime.”
Spring Creek’s program earned Silver Level status through the League Excellence Program in 2022 before achieving gold in 2023. The league has benefited from USA Football’s Coach Certification and Grants programs.
“Our league truly enjoys the fundamental training videos that USA Football offers,” said Wood, who just concluded his first year as President. “Our community and volunteers take pride in providing a safe environment for our athletes to learn, grow, practice and, most importantly, play football. We take pride in the fact that our coaches and volunteers are willing to take courses to learn the fundamentals of safe practice and playing football for our athletes.”
The Spring Creek Junior Football League previously received grants through USA Football to purchase new equipment.
According to Wood, who became involved with the program four years ago, the community’s volunteers truly enjoy helping young athletes grow and reach their potential on and off the field.
“Our league and its volunteers enjoy watching the athletes grow through the sport and what they learn through the years,” said Wood. “A lot of our athletes start with the league at five years old and play football in our league until high school.”
Congratulations to the Spring Creek Junior Football League on another successful year and for earning Gold Level status.
