The Locust Grove Football & Cheerleading Association (LGFCA) located in Locust Grove, Ga. has earned Gold Level status through USA Football’s League Excellence Program for the 2023 season.
USA Football’s League Excellence Program is a way for youth football organizations to earn recognition for their commitment to raising operational standards and providing great environments for athletes and their families.
“LGFCA is a family-oriented association that has been a part of the Locust Grove community since 1997,” said Candy Erhardt, who took over as President of the LGFCA in 2011 after joining the program in 2008. “LGFCA practices the ideals of leadership and sportsmanship. Our program teaches lessons of value far beyond the playing days, such as teamwork, discipline, concentration, leadership and sportsmanship. We will do our very best to ensure each child reaches his or her utmost potential and talent.”
LGFCA offers several game-types, including tackle football, limited contact and flag football, and cheer for athletes ages four to 12. Children are divided into single age groups for their game-type of choice. The organization has an exceptional track record, earning Silver Level status in 2021 and Gold Level status in each of the past two years.
“I think the most meaningful impact is the willingness of families, coaches and board members to help others in our community,” said Erhardt. “We offer as many scholarships as we can each season so everyone can be part of the sports. We have parents, coaches and board members donate scholarships to make this possible. The willingness of people to help is very moving.”
LGFCA has also benefited from USA Football’s Grants Program, which helped secure new equipment for the non-profit. “It helps a lot because, as a non-profit, we can’t always afford things like that,” Erhardt explained.
Congratulations to the Locust Grove Football & Cheerleading Association on another successful year and for earning Gold Level status.
