Regional Development Camp Recap: Dallas and Bay Area

The U.S. National Team Regional Development Camp season continued with a stops in the Dallas and San Francisco areas this past weekend, and neither the Metroplex nor the Bay Area disappointed.

Nearly 600 athletes attended the event at Arlington Lamar High School and Chabot College to improve their skills and potentially earn an invitation to the USA Football Development Games, the next step in qualifying for the U.S. National Team.

Here’s a rundown of some of the athletes who stood out.

Cutter Haigood, China Springs (Texas)

A versatile athlete, Haigood attended the Dallas RDC despite a busy post-football schedule that includes stints on both the China Springs basketball and baseball teams.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Haigood plays a number of positions but may be best suited for wide receiver, where he earned second-team All-Central Texas honors as a junior, helping lead China Springs to a 12-2 record.

Zayvar Swain, North Mesquite (Mesquite, Texas)

One of the fastest players at the Dallas camp, Swain is a speed demon at receiver.

At 5-9, 175 pounds, Swain mostly lines up in the slot and in the backfield. As evidenced by his Hudl highlights, he displays good hands.

Javaris Russell, Grenada (Miss.)

The list of top players at the Dallas RDC was not limited to players from the Lone Star State. Case in point: Javaris Russell.

Russell traveled from Mississippi to participate, and he displayed why he’s one of the top linebackers in the Magnolia State.

The 6-2, 210-pound Russell has offers from Missouri, California, Memphis and others.

C.J. Avery, Grenada (Miss.)

Avery, a teammate of Russell’s, also made the trip.

Scout’s No. 1 recruit from Mississippi for the class of 2017, Avery has a tremendous frame and runs very well.

He certainly lived up to the considerable hype with a noteworthy performance at the camp.

Conner Stoddard, Ross Middle School (Hughson, Calif.)

Though just a sixth-grader, Stoddard impressed with his mechanics and a live arm.

The Class of 2022 recruit attends Ross Middle School outside of Modesto.

Will Craig, Granite Bay (Calif.)

The 6-4 defensive lineman, a member of the class of 2018, impressed coaches by being light on his feet and demonstrating great balance.

Craig was the only sophomore to see meaningful playing time for powerhouse Granite Bay. He likely projects as a starting defensive tackle this fall and could become a coveted recruit.
