High school football preview: Cincinnati LaSalle, St. Xavier battle for conference supremacy

States are either in the middle of their high school football season, a few are even getting ready for playoffs in the next few weeks.

Let's take a look at this week's high school preview.

In Ohio, first place for the Greater Catholic League South is up for grabs Friday night as La Salle (Cincinnati) matches up against longtime rival St. Xavier (Cincinnati).

Looking to the West Coast in California, MaxPreps No. 1 nationally ranked Mater Dei (Santa Ana) is set to take on Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita).

Friday's night's matchup is looking to be an offensive battle between the Santa Margarita Eagles (4-1) and Mater Dei Monarchs (5-0).

The Monarchs average 44.4 points per game and are led by five-star quarterback, according to 247 Sports, JT Daniels and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, a five-star recruit who is fielding offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and more.

The Eagles are looking to be a tough opponent for this No.1 ranked team, averaging 44.8 points a game.

Running back Chad Magyar, a UNLV recruit, helps lead the Eagles offense along with Utah commit running back Malone Mataele and tight end Jake Peters, an Arizona recruit.

On the East Coast, New Jersey has two state powerhouses facing off.

DePaul Catholic (Wayne) and St.Peter's Prep (Jersey City) are set to take the field Friday night. Both teams have suffered one loss this season but are looking for a win Friday night.

The De Paul Spartans will be led by dual-threat quarterback Taquan Roberson, who has offers from North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Michigan, and more. The Spartans also have offensive tackle Khris Banks, a 247 Sports three-star recruit who has offers from Boston College, Rutgers, Temple and more.

St.Peter's Marauders boast outside linebacker and Notre Dame commit Shayne Simon and four-star defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola, who has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and more.
