Riddell Sports, an official partner of USA Football, selected 10 football programs to receive Smarter Football equipment grants, with the help of Peyton Manning.
“It was a great honor to have an opportunity to help select this year’s winners,” Peyton Manning said when the winners were announced. “The entries shared so many incredible stories of determination, teamwork and unwavering commitment to the sport. And while it was a challenge to select the final winners, it’s rewarding to know that the future of football is in good hands with the next generation of players and coaches.”
Three high school programs, one youth/club organization (ages 13 to 17), two middle schools, and three youth programs were chosen from 708 applications.
Manning also delivered personalized videos to each of the 10 winning programs.
The programs that Riddell awarded grants to include the following:
Stanton College Prep Blue Devils, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Jacksonville, Florida)
Cheektowaga High School Warriors, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Cheektowaga, New York)
East Anchorage High School Thunderbirds, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Anchorage, Alaska)
Prairie High School Mustangs (New Raymer, Colorado)
Van Cortlandt Titans (New York)
Springfield Middle School Bulldogs (Springfield, Louisiana)
Seneca-Wauzeka Steuben Cooperative Middle School Bluegolds (Wauzeka, Wisconsin)
Downtown Ministries Falcons, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Athens, Georgia)
Lyman Cowboys, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Gulfport, Mississippi)
Monument Blizzard, a Heads Up Football-certified program (Monument, Colorado)
Each application was evaluated based on equipment needs, ability to communicate a compelling reason the program deserved a grant, and practice of Smarter Football in the program.
Among the 10 programs that were selected, Riddell awarded a combined $100,000 in grants.
