Ever wonder what college football programs do with the massive amounts of leftover food they have after home games? At Texas Christian University, the Horned Frogs donate it to the less fortunate.
According to the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram, The TCU Food Recovery Network, a student organization that works to eliminate food waste on campus, coordinates the deliveries, which go to the Union Gospel Mission Homeless Shelter.

The organization teams with Sodexo, which caters the food that's served at the suites and club seats for each TCU home game. They package the food each Monday and deliver it to the shelter.
Monday's donation, according to the Star-Telegram, included bags of chicken wings, coleslaw, potato salad and trays of packaged brisket, cornbread and cookies.
The Food Recovery Network began making deliveries to the shelter in the spring, using leftover food from the campus dining hall twice a week, according to Megan McCracken, a senior student and the organization's president.

The article said their first donation after a TCU home game included about 1,000 pounds of food, which was enough to sustain the Union Gospel Mission for about a week. According to Robert Clethan, the Mission's food services director, they serve meals to about 300 people three times a day.
"I get excited for these games," he told the Star-Telegram. "People really want to help out, but they don't know how to help out sometimes. They just need to know there's a place like this that can use things like that."
The Horned Frogs have played five home football games so far this season, and have one more on the schedule (Nov. 24 against Baylor).
