Forty-six high school seniors spanning 15 states have been selected for the 2018 U.S. Under-19 National Team, USA Football announced today.
The U.S. Under-19 National Team will compete against Football Canada’s Under-19 National Team on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. Central Time (9 p.m. Eastern). For the fourth consecutive year, AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys and college football’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl, will host International Bowl IX. The U.S. Under-19 National Team players will arrive in Arlington on Jan. 14.

International Bowl IX features 24 high school- and middle school-aged teams across eight nations on three continents. U.S. National Teams will compete against teams representing Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic region, comprised of players and coaches from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. As a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and the sport’s national governing body, USA Football manages U.S. National Teams for international competition.
The head coach of the U.S. Under-19 National Team is Elijah Brooks of DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Maryland) High School. Brooks recently completed his seventh season as head coach at DeMatha. Brooks led the Stags to four consecutive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championships from 2013-2016, including the program’s first undefeated season in a decade (2016, 12-0).
USA Football will announce the remaining National and Select teams after the start of the New Year.
U.S. National Team alumni include wide receiver Corey Coleman (Cleveland Browns), wide receiver Devin Funchess (Carolina Panthers), running back Todd Gurley (Los Angeles Rams), defensive back Tyrann Mathieu (Arizona Cardinals), offensive lineman Jack Mewhort (Indianapolis Colts), running back Samaje Perine (Washington Redskins), defensive end Stephon Tuitt (Pittsburgh Steelers) and quarterback Jameis Winston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
