This is the second part of a three-part series ahead of the 2019 U.S. National Team Regionals. We'll hear about the National Team program directly from players, parents and coaches. This perspective comes from Ken Seals, QB and multiple time National Team Player. For more information, visit www.usafootball.com/regionals. Part one, from a parent’s perspective can be read here

I’ve been in the U.S. National Team program for a few years. It’s been fun and I’ve grown a lot as a player over the different events and competing in the International Bowl.

Going to all the camps and being a part of the team, it’s great to see guys that you might’ve played with in the past or have met at another event around the country. I’ve kept in touch with a lot of the guys I play with. We followed each other on Twitter and Instagram so I see what they’re up to. Off of social media, we made a group chat when we were all together that we still talk to each other there today.

One big thing I learned was at last year’s International Bowl. Talking with and getting instruction from Coach Spinner gave me a unique way to look at the QB position that I haven’t seen yet. He knew a lot about the game, and I tried to soak up every bit I could. It really opened my eyes to see the game and position in a new way that I’ll use next season.

They helped me a lot with the mechanics of throwing a football and simplifying the responsibilities of the position. Instead of trying to achieve all these tasks every play, focus on them one at a time with a plan on how you’re going to get it done.

It’s really cool playing on the National Team because those guys are all on the same mission as you – play hard, play well and play to win for your country. That’s what really brings the team together, sharing a common goal.

The greatest part about the entire Team USA experience is that exact moment when you run out of the tunnel onto the same field the Cowboys play on. It was unreal. I just looked around through my helmet and tried to take in that moment.

I always look forward to seeing my teammates, meeting my new coaches, and getting to wear all the Team USA gear and represent the Red White and Blue.
