We've reached the point where girls playing on high school football teams isn't big news. We might soon reach the point where girls making big plays to help their teams win games isn't all that newsworthy anymore, either, because it's beginning to happen so frequently.

Terre Haute (Indiana) South High School kicker Orian Roshel joined the party Friday, kicking the game-winning field goal to help the Braves defeat Castle (Newburgh, Indiana), 31-28.

Roshel's 27-yard boot helped the Braves advance to next Friday's Class 5A sectional championship game, and eliminated the Knights.

Roshel talks about the kick here:

Earlier this season, USA Football told you about Claire Jeffress, the homecoming queen who kicked a game-winning field goal of her own. Before that, we told you about Holly Neher, the starting quarterback for her Florida high school team who earned that start in part by throwing a touchdown pass earlier in the season.

The 247 Sports Composite lists Harrisburg (Pennsylvania)'s Micah Parsons as the nation's No. 5 recruit. The senior defensive end also plays offense, and he showed Friday why Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma are possible landing spots for him in college.

Moon Valley (Phoenix) High School is still reeling from the loss of teammate Carlos Sanchez, who died after collapsing on the field during a game Oct. 20. Friday, his Moon Valley teammates honored him in several different ways.

According to azcentral.com, the team observed a 33-second moment of silence before their game against Peoria. Then, each senior placed a single white rose at the 33-yard line.

Quarterback Isaiah Southwick wore these shoes during the game.

Big upset, big streak ends

DeSoto (Texas) had defeated rival Duncanville 23 straight times entering play Friday. DeSoto was ranked fourth nationally by MaxPreps, but Duncanville entered play 7-0. The Panthers are still unbeaten, having ended the streak with a 24-14 win.

Meanwhile, Florida and Arizona teams pulled upsets against nationally ranked opponents. Norland (Miami) upset city rival and 14th-ranked Northwestern, 28-27 on Thursday, coming back from a 20-point deficit in the process, while Liberty (Peoria, Arizona) took down No. 20 Centennial, 21-19, in another intra-city matchup. Liberty quarterback Ryan Bendle threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Alec Moonier with 5.2 seconds remaining to seal that win.

We've seen several high school wide receivers do their best Odell Beckham Jr. impersonation. Here's Malvern (Pennsylvania)'s Keith Maguire, offering his best against Haverford (Pennsylvania):
