USA Football announces U.S. Under-17 Stars and Stripes teams for International Bowl IX at AT&T Stadium

Ninety-seven football players spanning 28 states have been selected for the 2018 U.S. Under-17 Stars and Stripes teams.

The U-17 Stars will play Football Ontario Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. Central Time (2 p.m. Eastern). The U-17 Stripes will play Team Japan Jan. 17 at 4:30 p.m. CT (5:30 p.m. ET). For the fourth consecutive year, AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys and college football’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl, will host International Bowl IX.

International Bowl IX features 24 high school- and middle school-aged teams across eight nations on three continents. U.S. National Teams will compete against teams representing Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic region, comprised of players and coaches from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. As a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and the sport’s national governing body, USA Football manages U.S. National Teams for international competition.

Head coach and running backs coach of the U-17 Stars is PJ Gibbs of Gulf Coast (Florida) High School. Assistants include Chris Guirdy of Warren (Texas) High School (Offensive coordinator/Quarterbacks); Tracy Scott of Blancard (Oklahoma) High School (Defensive coordinator/Linebackers); Adam Neff of Locust Grove (Oklahoma) High School (Defensive Line); Joe Hawkins of Werner University (Wide Receivers); Kresean Reed of Phoenix College (Defensive Backs) and Jim Hamilton of Siena Heights University (Offensive Line).

Head coach and quarterbacks coach of the U-17 Stripes is William Lindamood of Reinhardt University. Assistants include Chris Paddlety of Anadarko (Oklahoma) High School (Offensive Line); Nick McVay of Robert Morris University (Wide Receivers); Larry Capasso of Gulf Coast High School (Defensive Line); Zap Hawkins of Charlotte Christian (North Carolina) High School (Running Backs); Billy Elmore of West Memphis (Arkansas) High School (Linebackers) and Daryl Jones of Southwestern University (Defensive Backs).

U.S. National Team alumni include wide receiver Corey Coleman (Cleveland Browns), wide receiver Devin Funchess (Carolina Panthers), running back Todd Gurley (Los Angeles Rams), defensive back Tyrann Mathieu (Arizona Cardinals), offensive lineman Jack Mewhort (Indianapolis Colts), running back Samaje Perine (Washington Redskins), defensive end Stephon Tuitt (Pittsburgh Steelers) and quarterback Jameis Winston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

All International Bowl games will be played at AT&T Stadium. Game days are Friday, Jan. 12; Wednesday, Jan. 17; and Friday, Jan. 19, each consisting of four games.
