USA Football National Conference Speaker Series: Lou Marinelli

From now through kickoff at USA Football's 2018 National Conference at Pro Bowl, we will take a look at some of the notable speakers and sessions on the docket for one of the country’s largest gatherings of high school football coaches.

Name: Lou Marinelli

His background: Marinelli is in his 37th season as Head Coach for the New Canaan (Connecticut) Rams. Lou came to New Canaan High School in 1981 when the football program was struggling (0-29-1), but two years after he took over, the Rams were state champions. He has since won a total of 12 state championships. In 2015, he passed two milestones: 35 years of coaching and 300 wins at New Canaan. Last season, Marinelli won his 331st career game, tying for the most in state history. Lou has been recognized several times as Coach of the Year by multiple associations, including the NFL. Lou and his wife, Frances, have three children, Francesca, Anna, and John, all NCHS graduates.
