For the roster full of top-level NCAA Division I talent, led by DeMatha Catholic (Maryland) High School coach Elijah Brooks, the U.S. U-19s recognize the game provides the bookend to their prep careers.

“They understand this is it for them, so they’re bringing a real sense of enjoyment to practice,” said Brooks, who was an assistant on last year’s U-17 Select team. “They’re having fun, they’re loose, but when it’s time to kick it up, they’re focused and locked in.”

And Mississippi State commit Jalen Mayden (6-3, 210; Sachse, Texas), featured in this five-part video series:

“All three guys are really talented players. We’re excited to see what they can do on Friday,” Brooks said. “They all have strong arms, they’re accurate, they’re dual-threat guys, but most importantly, they’re great leaders who have a real rapport with their teammates.”

Brooks gets to coach three of his own players from DeMatha Catholic – defensive lineman Austin Fontaine (6-2, 309) and offensive lineman Evan Gregory (6-4, 290), both headed to Maryland; and defensive back and Pittsburgh-bound Judson Tallandier (6-2, 180).
